Recommender systems that boost and distribute social media, constitute PUBLISHING, and should be civilly liable like any traditional publisher, when they recommend and profit from uploaded illegal content. "Social media" should not be entitled to immunity, based on an unwarrantedly expansive interpretation of section 230.
These platforms censor "misinformation" and goverment disfavored speech, in order to avoid long-overdue anti-Trust action - which amounts to an illegal "prior restraint" - while defending their right to illegally promote incitement, terrorism, obscenity, sexual expoitation, and defamation on so-called "free speech" grounds - even though there is no such shield from civil liability for abuse of that freedom - and they promote this because it stimulates outrage or lust, and thus viewership, which serves their vicious business model. The courts have allowed a hypocritical and perverse double standard to apply regarding speech; the platforms should be regulated as "common carriers". We adjure the High Court, Congress, and the FTC/FCC et al to do their jobs.

Calling so-called "social" media platforms to open-source their recommender algorithms, be held accountable by their own user bases with community notes, and eventually by the courts.
